| EVERYBODY'S
BIRTHDAY PAWTY - SAT., AUGUST 26
We
had so much fun celebrating last year that we knew we wanted to throw
a pawty again this year!
Here's
what we celebrated:
Godfrey's-Welcome to Dogdom is two years old! Yep, we are celebrated
our two year anniversary! Thanks to all of our loyal customers for helping
us to reach this anniversary.
Jackson
Godfrey, our shop's O.G. (Official Greeter) turned 7 years old! He's
Barb's adorable golden retriever and he works at the shop just about
every day. Barb and Pat adopted him from Delaware Valley Golden
Retriever Rescue (DVGRR) in 2003.
National Dog Day. This was the first year for naming a national
day to celebrate dogs in our lives. There was a whole array of events
planned for this day in New York City, so we wanted to help celebrate
it here, too. National
Dog Day's founder, dog trainer and animal advocate, Colleen Paige, felt
it was time to honor dogs more than we currently do, to give them "a
day", to show deep appreciation for our long connection to each other
- for their endearing patience, unquestioning loyalty, for their work,
their capacity for love and their ability to impact our lives everyday
in the most miraculous ways. National Dog Day encourages dog ownership
of all breeds, mixed and pure - and embraces the opportunity for all
dogs to live a happy, safe and "abuse-free life".
and
we introduced Godfrey's Canine Birthday Club! Register your dog next
time you come in. Then when you coming shopping for your
dog during his or her birthday month, we'll give you a special offer
for any (1) dog usable item for your dog to enjoy.
It's
our way of celebrating your dog's birthday or "Gottcha" day.
That's why we celebrated "Everybody's Birthday Pawty!"
Here's
the fun we had that day:
Agility Dog Demos by Linda Madeira and
Renee Caspescha. Linda and Renee ran their dogs run through an agility
course. Customers who came with their dogs were invited to try a test
run.
Meet the Trainers Yes, you're reading
it correctly. You've asked, and asked and asked us for Puppy training
and other training. Godfrey's announced our alliance with a wonderful
duo of dog trainers...Mary Jo and Steve from "Awesome Dawgs!"
They chatted with people and dogs, shared their philosophies, and hsanded
out information about their classes and detaisl for registration.
Live Music by Chuck Cahoe.
Chuck sang and played live and his music was so-o-o much
fun.
Chuck was once a part of the very popular local band "Burning House."
The
ARL (Animal Rescue League) of Berks County and Delaware
Valley Golden Retriever Rescue (DVGRR) also attended to share
their information and talk about what both groups do to help homeless
dogs find their forever homes as part of our National Dog Day celebration.
We
had games, raffles, birthday cake for humans and a free "decorate
your own Pup Cake" for each dog who attended the Pawty!
