Wow! Where did these 9 years ago? Our Official Opening was Thursday, July 24, 2004. With a clear vision, months and months of research, a solid business plan, a sense for design, and acquisition of the ideal property to roll out the vision, we opened Godfrey's. My husband Pat and some of my close friends and family were right there with me doing everything and anything to help open the doors, and for them and their care and kindness, I will be eternally grateful. Every one of us was excited, but would fellow dog lovers be as excited as we were to bring the "best of the best in dogdom" to Berks County? Thank heavens you were! We have been so blessed ever since to have you and your dogs as our dear and valued customers and friends over these 9 years. We hope we have many more years to share with you! The economic environment certainly brings us many challenges but there's nothing like surrounding ourselves with fellow dog lovers that know that "Dog is Family!" We've gotta keep "bringing it on" in Berks!

To celebrate and to say "Thank you for your business," we think we've lined up some pretty awesome events for you. We hope you come out to enjoy these events and special savings!

Here's what we have going:

Saturday, July 13:

"Honey's Fab Fotos" (appointments every hour on the hour). Set up your private appointment with Andrew Orth from "Honey's Fab Fotos."  Yep, Andrew's back from his travels for a little bit of time and he chose to share his time and talent once again with you. There are still a few openings left, but hurry!

WHERE WILL THIS OCCUR AT GODFREY'S? Andrew will have his temporary studio set up in our Canine Learning Center. Honey, his golden retriever, will be there, hanging out with Andrew.

10am-1pm: Outdoor Training and Dog Sports Demos! Come out to see, learn, and try Agility, Flyball and also learn some new dog tricks with your dog!  Meet Denise and DeDe, the trainers from The Companionable Canine who run the training classes here at Godfrey's.

10am-1pm: AKC's Canine Good Citizen (CGC) test is being offered! Cost for the test is $20, limited to 10 dog handler teams. Contact Denise at info@compk9.com or call her at 610-996-5959 to secure a spot! All who get their CGC on Saturday will get a $10 coupon for Godfrey's-Our way of saying "Way to Go!"

11am-1pm: Godfrey's Canine Massage Studio "Open House," including raffle and refreshments, hosted by certified canine massage therapist Jennifer De Long. Jennifer schedules canine massage appointments at Godfrey's on a regular basis: Thursday evenings and Saturdays. Not sure how massage can help your dog? Come out and and learn more!

Friday, July 19:

11am-3pm: Meet Blaine, our Sales Representative from VeRUS Pet Foods and Annamaet Pet Foods. Blaine will also talk with you about Orijen and Acana foods, too! Food quiz, free samples, literature, coupons and fun!

Saturday, July 20:

11am-2pm: "Open House" in our Canine Wellness and Conditioning Center, hosted by Nicole and Pat. Planned exercise and strength training isn't just for humans any more! We all can affect how well our dogs age, just like we can help ourselves. You "know the drill" for you and the human family members, and now it's time to look at your dog's health and wellness and the proactive things you can do to address all kinds of health issues before they become problems. Our health and wellness canine programs need to be part of your plan! At the very least, know what we have to offer so that when you hear that your dog is having some joint issues, you'll know we can help! Or maybe your dog simply has excess energy to burn and you can't do enough for him or her....private canine treadmill sessions help help to work out that excess energy. Or perhaps your agility or fly ball dog needs to build or maintain muscle mass? FitPaws® Exercise programs will help! And once you know how to use the equipment by attending our programs, you can purchase the equipment from us and do it at home! (2) DRAWINGS FOR A FREE PRIVATE SESSION.

11am-4pm: Meet the artist from Silver Impressions "Precious Paws Jewelry." Many of you have already purchased a piece of this one of a kind jewelry from us over the years; your dog's paw print impression is captured in fine silver. Barb wears hers of Emma and Jackson all the time! Local artist Meghan Gage handcrafts personalized paw prints of pets of all species in sterling silver and now also in bronze, copper, or steel. Included is a necklace of complimenting metal, a polymer stamp on acrylic block, and free handwritten inscription. Custom product designs are also available.

Bring your dog or other pet out to capture their paw print. $10 off a jewelry order for capturing a print that day and the first 5 customers to order a jewelry piece will receive a free leather or silk cord with their product. Meghan will be running a Drawing to win (1) silver paw print and a Drawing to win a paw print in an "alternative" metal (bronze, copper, or steel). Now that's exciting!

10am-4pm: Calling all  Fromm Family Foods lovers (and there are tons of you now) or those that want to learn about it: Come out to meet our Sales Representative, Colin. After tons of research 9 years ago, I selected this terrific brand, I was way ahead of the curve, and it continues to remain a great food for our beloved canines. Colin's got a sweet, sweet deal for our customers FOR THIS DAY ONLY! You've gotta come out for this one!
